We focus on clean, reliable and sustainable energy access by working with a network of local women to provide clean, reliable energy in Sierra Leone.
Our mission is to sell distribute household solar lamps to individuals who benefit from a safe, rechargeable light source.
The Problem
In Sierra Leone, only 36% of the population have access to electricity. This number drops to 6% in the country’s rural areas. Many people are forced to rely on toxic and expensive kerosene lanterns. This has detrimental effects on peoples’ health and is a drain on precious financial resources.
Our Solution
By setting up distribution networks and supporting small female-run businesses, the business helps communities’ access safe, clean light technology, whilst simultaneously creating employment and income opportunities. The profits of the company are reinvested in the social enterprise: buying more solar products, providing capacity building training and ongoing support to the women.
